Angels and Spirit Guides are real, even if we can’t see or feel them around us all the time. However, especially in times when you feel entirely alone, there are divine companions who are always with you.
Those spiritual companions can have different roles, from protecting, guiding, teaching, supporting, or being there for you. This will depend on their purpose as well as the reason why they felt drawn to you.
Guardian Angels
Before your incarnation, they chose to accompany you through your lifetime, from the moment of your first breath, until your last. Everyone has a guardian angel, even if they don’t believe in them. Those angels are there to protect us from harm and support us during difficult times.
Can you remember the last time you did something unconsciously, and you got yourself a bit into a mess, and suddenly: someone reached out to you to help you, you had this feeling of warning, or you just felt a presence around you?
Guardian angels can appear in human form
Guardian angels can take on human form, even enter into another person’s body for a short time to deliver a message or just to let you know they are there. Those angels are made of pure unconditional love and a gift of God.
For every human being, there is a guardian angel in the world. Even if you don’t believe in angels, you can still start being open to a supportive force in your life and invite them to show themselves. Maybe suddenly, your life will improve in a way you never thought of. Allowing a divine presence to look after you is a beautiful way to feel at home in this world.
What are Spirit Guides?
Spirit guides are highly evolved beings that have completed the cycle of birth and death in the physical plane and are now serving as teachers and guides to further elevate their vibrations. However, some Spirit Guides or Teachers have never touched the earth and continue to serve humans from the other realms. They are as “real” as you are, just vibrating at another level and residing in another plane of existence.
How do Spirit Guides communicate?
They work to guide you by working through your dreams and intuition. That quiet voice you hear is often the voice of your teachers and guides. They may also make themselves known to you through signs and symbols. For me, when I am at a crossroads in my life or journeying through a personal or emotional challenge, I find feathers everywhere. I also see feather tattoos and hawks and hear certain songs. It is a reminder for me to be still and listen to the guidance of my own personal guides.
The feathers represent my guides’ energy, one being a mighty Shaman and the others from the angelic realm. Other guides, such as animals, stones, plants, or other people, might see themselves differently. It depends on what you are open to, as this will determine your experience with guides. In shamanism, plants, animals, and stones have very strong power and are consistently recognized as guides in their own form.
Everything possesses a spirit.
Even a stone could become your teacher in this lifetime. You will need to find a way to connect with your guides in your very personal way.
Some people like to go for walks in nature and experience a connection there. Others might find it more comfortable to stay at home or go to a spiritual circle, and guides draw closer during meditation. People like musicians, artists, or writers often spend some time alone to receive inspiration – which also can come through spirit guides.

How many guides are there?
Some individuals have one guide, and others have multitudes; much of this depends on the path and purpose of your life. For instance, a teacher/professor may have several guides, one to guide them through the academic nature of their profession and others to assist them with the tremendous emotional requirements of performing such an important task. Much of who your guides are is indicative of your journey through life. Some guides will stay a lifetime, while others are just here for a specific time to support and help you with a task or a chapter of your life.
Is my Spirit Guide a loved one?
Spirit guides are seldom a loved one who has passed away. Although our loved ones stay with us in spirit and we can contact them, they do not serve the same role as a “spirit guide.” Our loved ones had their purpose to incarnate into this lifetime; even tho we bonded through love, family, or friendship, they are not necessarily our guides.
Once they have fulfilled their karmic path here on earth, they move on to a different place. Of course, our loved ones will offer their support and love when we need them. However, they have not changed much in character. Imagine your grandmother, maybe with little or no education, now assisting you to do a Ph.D.?
That is why we have specific spirit guides experts in their field. Their energetic vibration somehow matches ours, and this way, they can work with us. With your grandmother, the love she had for you, and you have for her, allows her to draw closer and let you know that you will always be loved.
Archangels and Angels
Some individuals have archangels and angels as spirit guides who are always with them. Yet, the presence of angels does not always mean they are your spirit guides. Angels can be called in times of distress to assist you for a short time. If you have an archangel or angel as a guide, chances are your mission in life is a complex one. Through my experience with being a psychic reader and spiritual teacher, I have found that individuals with a challenging life path often have angels as spirit guides.
Working with your Spirit Guides
Without the presence of my guides, I would not where I am today. But it took me a bit of work to really allow those spiritual beings to come closer and work with me. My mind just did struggle to comprehend that they would exist and this way I blocked our communication. But learning to work with your spirit guides can be an incredible tool for your own personal and spiritual growth. Unlike physical beings, their wisdom and advice are not influenced by the “world”.
They dwell in a higher vibrational plane, and your situation’s mundane particulars are irrelevant. For example, if you seek guidance from your spirit guide regarding a relationship, they will lead you to focus on what you are learning, what you need to learn, what you are teaching your partner, and what is the true meaning of your relationship. The fact that they leave the toilet seat up or are terrible at budgeting the household finances will be irrelevant.
The information you will be provided with will be actions YOU can take to gain more understanding. You can also ask your spirit guides to assist you in physical healing. Before you go to sleep, ask that as you are sleeping, you receive healing.
Unconditional and endless support
You are never alone. Never. Take faith in knowing and understanding that there is so much magic and mystery in this life. Just for a moment, let the “world” disappear. Raise your vibration and allow the beautiful gifts of the spirit to wash over you. Life is so much more than what we see. Open your spiritual eyes and hearts, and you will discover a world of wisdom, beauty, and peace you never knew existed.
Of course, you can always choose not to believe. It is always your choice. But why not? Why not step into another level of existence? Why not believe in magic? You do not have to announce it to the office, but you can embrace the wonders of spirit in your own heart. It will envelop you in a light of love and understanding and will mysteriously transform you into a more connected and loving being.
