Professionals have their regulatory bodies and codes of practice, but individuals involved in mystical work are often self-taught. This can leave them feeling they are in something of a grey zone when it comes to dealing with the public appropriately.
Furthermore, if someone has not received training from a professional teacher or mentor, how will that person ever become a master of their gifts? Because there are somehow no “real” regulatory bodies for spiritual work, it can make you feel a bit lost when you are looking for someone who can do a Reading for you.
The importance of ethical principles
Ethical principles should guide all practitioners of the divinatory arts, whatever their field. Talking with all sorts of people working in the spiritual field confirmed for me that we all face the same types of problems:
- dealing with difficult questions
- the possibility of tragic events
- what to do when people have depression
- issues they cannot handle alone
- especially avoiding dependency and the pressure, it places on the practitioner
If you are well trained by good teachers, such situations won’t arise because your mentor would have taught you the ethics and morals of doing Psychic or Tarot Readings or any other form of divination.
The proper training will help with your confidence
You will also be more confident in your work because you know that you have put the work in. I have trained for over ten years at Arthur Findlay College and learned from the best teachers in this field.
People from all over the world come to the College to enhance their psychic abilities. Moreover, I always had and still have a mentor who is much wiser than me and teaches me the right way.
When it comes to choosing the right Reader for you, it is essential to check some simple guidelines if you are a good match.
The practitioner should have strong values.
As a practitioner, I think the best position is to have a set of solid values about your work that accord with your spiritual perspective. Depending on what your personal spiritual beliefs are, there will be specific guidelines or reflective questions that will help you to answer them.
Most people choose to work in the spiritual field because their motivation is to help others.
Some people might even go deeper, and their path is to empower others to choose for themselves how to deal more effectively with problems in their lives by giving them information. However, at no given time should the Reader (Psychic, Tarot Card Reader, Medium, Energy Reader, Aura Reader, etc.) create a dependency in which the client feels that she has to come again and again to get more or better answers to a problem.
There should be at least six months before you have another Reading.
In my work as an Astrology Tarot Card Reader and Seer, I have a six-month waiting period for people who just had a Reading with me. This is the suggested amount of time that should have passed between two Readings, so necessary changes could have occurred.
For this reason, I have a lot of clients who contact me once or twice a year for a Reading. Over all those years, this has worked very well with me, and I always encourage my clients to make up their own minds and make decisions based on their own intuition and not necessarily what I said in the Reading.
This form of integrity is very important to me, and my clients value this in my work as it allows them to become more confident on their own life path.
Client dependency
Client dependency usually occurs when people have a simplistic view of divination. They believe that a reading reveals fate, a future written in tablets of stone that cannot be avoided. They see themselves as puppets on a stage where larger forces are pulling the strings. If they get the wrong answer to their queries, then real stress can result, and clients can pressure readers to tell them what they want to hear by asking the same question repeatedly until they get the correct answer. It’s easy to forget how much the client invests in what a reader says and how careful readers need to be when faced with someone overwhelmed by life problems.
This is the reason why it is so important to have a Code of Ethics and boundaries that need to be respected. Astrology Tarot Card Readings never predict the future, but they somehow reveal a potential that the client can choose and work towards.
At no stage does that person lose their free will or self-responsibility for their actions. Psychics, Tarot Card Readers, and Mediums need to show clients how they have choices and need to be proactive in their lives. If you follow this path, then X may occur. If you follow that path, then Y is more likely. Does anybody get a new job or a new romance if they don’t make some moves toward their goal? A good reading should show ways of making desirable changes.
Finding the right Reader – What are you looking for?
If you are looking for a reader who can give you a real insight into your possibilities, then you should be looking for someone who has the insight to explain things in this way. At no time should you feel you have lost control of your choices. The purpose of divination is to seek guidance, not intimidation. Both seers and clients need to adopt an exploratory frame of mind in a Reading rather than a predictive one, and clients should ask when they book a reading, How do you work? Is there only one answer to a problem, or am I free to explore the possibilities open to me?
You can also check out testimonials from previous clients and see how they rate the Reader. Do you get the feeling that they received satisfying answers? Can you tell if the Reading empowered or made them feel good? Are they recommending the Reader to others?
